We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how your personal information is collected, used, and protected when you use Selectric (“the Service”).

1. Information We Collect:

• Usage Information: We do not collect any personally identifiable information or data about user search history, resuls etc. We collect aggregate information about number of users accessing the service, device information and IP address. All usage information is stored at an aggregate level and cannot be used to identify or track individual users.
• Personal Information: We do not collect or store any user documents, files, emails, or messages on our servers. All data indexed by the Service only resides on the user (your) device. We do not collect any personal information unless voluntarily provided by the user, such as when they contact us for support or share feedback about search result quality. 
• Usage History: We do not collect or store any information on individual search queries which users perform. All usage history resides purely on the local device purely for user convenience. Users have the option of deleting their search history through app settings at any time. .
• Access Credentials: We do not collect or store login names, passwords, access tokens or any other account credentials on our servers. We do not have the ability to login as a user on any of our servers. Similarly we do not have the ability to perform any actions on behalf of the user on any of our servers. A user can revoke any access granted as well as all indexed data at any time through their app settings. 
• Email addresses: We collect and store email addresses for Pro users in order to authenticate and provide them with the service. We also receive email addresses from our third party payment providers when users pay for Pro access. If you wish to remove your email address from our database, please contact us over email.
• Payment information: We do not collect or store payment information from our users. All payment processing and management is handled by our third party payment processors.

2. User Data Handling

• All searches are performed entirely on the user’s device using the on-device index created by the app by crawling all linked accounts.
• For users of the free service, search summaries are generated with a large language model running on the user's device. Pro users get access to higher quality, more accurate summaries through cloud hosted AI models. The app collects, ranks and sends search results and relevant exerpts to our infrastructure for the purpose of generating these summaries. This information is used solely to generate a summary and is immediately discarded. We do not store, log or otherwise use this information in any way. Once discarded, we do not have a way to restore this information
• We do not share any user data or usage information with third parties. We do not use either for the purposes of targeted advertising. 
• Data obtained from the app and third party API’s (including but not limited to the Google Workspace APIs) is not used in any way to develop, improve or train generalized AI and/or ML models. 

3. Usage Statistics:

• We collect aggregate, non-identifiable usage statistics to analyze trends, improve the Service, ensure Service uptime and enhance user experience. These statistics do not contain any personally identifiable information. Users can opt out of this collection through the app settings.
• When users share feedback about search quality, they have the option of attaching a log of the ongoing conversation to help us analyze the issue better. This is completely optional and opt-in. Users can opt-in or out of this sharing through the app settings

4. Data Security:

• We implement industry-standard security measures to protect aggregate information collected from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

5. Data Retention:

• We retain any collected information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

6. Third-Party Services:

• The Service or results shown by the service may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these third-party sites.
• We do not share any data about our users, including but not limited to personal information, search history, search queries etc. with third parties

7. Children’s Privacy

• The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will take steps to remove such information.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

• We reserve the right to update or change our Privacy Policy at any time. Any changes will be effective immediately upon posting the updated Privacy Policy on this page.
